Sustainable Procurement

IWAY - The IKEA Way

IWAY is the IKEA way for responsibly procuring products, services, materials, and components. It sets clear expectations and ways of working for environmental, social, and working conditions, as well as animal welfare, and is mandatory for all suppliers and service providers that work with IKEA.

You can find more information on the IWAY system here:
IWAY: the code of conduct for IKEA suppliers – IKEA Global.

If you would like to know more about IWAY performance in Ingka, you can read our
Annual Summary & Sustainability Report.

As a supplier to Ingka, we reference IWAY in our agreements and purchase orders.

Fair & Equal

We are committed to promoting and supporting a world where human rights are a reality for all. We put respect for human rights at the heart of our business, integrating it into our strategies, policies and processes. Our respect for human rights covers our co-workers, customers, workers in our supply chain and our neighbours – in fact, everyone our business touches.

You can read more about our commitments here Fair & Equal | Ingka Group.

We want to work with suppliers that share the same ambitions as us, and together with closest partners we develop initiatives to create job opportunities for people that stand far away from the labour market, and we also work with social entrepreneurs in our supply chain.

IWAY is our supplier code of conduct and our foundation for protecting human rights in the supply chain. We expect our closest partners to fulfil not only the IWAY Must and Basic requirements, but also the Advanced and Excellent requirements for Equality, Diversity and inclusion (see requirements G 4.14- G 4.16 here).

Climate & Circularity

We know we have a huge responsibility – and many opportunities – to make a positive difference on climate change. As stubborn optimists, we believe that we can create a better future.

There are many existing solutions to tackle the climate crisis, but we urgently need to accelerate action. This can offer new opportunities for job creation, innovation, economic growth and reduced energy costs. And we’re proving that it’s possible to reduce our climate footprint while increasing our revenue. Since our baseline year 2016, we have reduced our climate footprint in absolute terms by -30.1% across scope 1, 2 and 3, while growing our business by 23.7%. This reduction is coming primarily from implementing carbon saving measures, such as renewable electricity and energy efficiency; however, changes in our business operations, procurement and sales have also contributed.

You can read more about our commitments for climate, circular and nature here: Climate, Circular & Nature | Ingka Group.

As a supplier to Ingka we expect you to share our ambitions and have clear roadmaps for your net zero transition.
