The new IKEA 3D kitchen planning experience brings 1.75 million design projects to life each year

IKEA is launching a new way for customers to plan their dream kitchen, one that is faster, easier, and more inspiring than ever before.

Rather than starting from scratch, customers can now explore our most popular kitchens in realistic 3D photos and instantly personalise them to match their budget and style. As they design, prices update in real time, making it easy to understand the total cost of their dream kitchen.

Parag Parekh, Global CDO for IKEA Retail (Ingka Group)

‘’Planning a kitchen is a big emotional and financial investment, which can take several months and be complex. IKEA has now turned it into something playful, inspiring, and transparent.’’

An experience unlike any other

The new experience is live in 17 countries: Spain, Czech, Hungary, Slovakia, Portugal, Korea, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Italy, Australia, Canada, and Japan, with plans to expand to additional markets by the end of the year. Key features include:

  • Start with inspiration, not a blank page – Customers can enter ready-made 3D kitchens rather than having to build from scratch.
  • Play, design, and price instantly – Change fonts and worktops, and always see the total cost, updated in real time.
  • Measure with your smartphone – Customers can scan their kitchens using their iPhones, making the process easy.
  • One journey, one space – All designs, bookings and updates are managed in the new Membership Space, available to join via the IKEA app or on the web.
  • Always supported, never alone – While customers can explore the start of their journey independently, IKEA co-workers can give expert guidance at any stage.

A win for customers and for IKEA

By FY26, IKEA aims to generate over 1.75 million kitchen projects annually while significantly reducing times for appointments. By focusing on cooking and eating with our offer and knowledge throughout FY26, the company expects to increase sales volumes of the cooking and eating range by 10%.

IKEA wants to be a companion throughout the full kitchen journey and with the Membership Space customers’ full kitchen projects are brought together in one main place, where they can design, measure, book appointments, and share information with kitchen co-workers. At the same time, IKEA co-workers can better focus on personalised service throughout the buying journey.

Redefining market standards

With this, IKEA positions itself uniquely in the marketplace by blending digital experiences with co-worker support, offering one of the only true omni-channel kitchen journeys. Customers can be in the driver’s seat and start their kitchen project in a truly enjoyable way, and throughout the journey, they are supported by both a co-worker who can help shape the project with them, as they go.

“This is a complete rethinking of how people plan and buy their kitchens. It makes the process inspiring, accessible, and truly customer-centric,” says Parag Parekh, Global CDO, IKEA Retail (Ingka Group).

The launch of the new 3D kitchen planning experience is a cornerstone of this year’s global Cooking & Eating campaign, which is dedicated to bringing joy back into the kitchen and encouraging people to share meals with loved ones. By making kitchen planning faster, easier, and more inspiring, IKEA is helping more people create spaces that truly support everyday cooking and eating. Together with the broader campaign – spanning over 200 new products, smart storage, water- and waste-saving solutions, and the in-store food experiences – the new 3D kitchen planning designer reinforces the company’s ambition to make cooking and eating more enjoyable, accessible, and sustainable for
