Who we are

We are Ingka Group

Ingka Group, founded in 1982, is the largest IKEA franchisee, operating IKEA retail locations in 32 countries as well as developing worldwide IKEA e-commerce and digital solutions.

Driven by the IKEA vision to create a better everyday life for the many people, Ingka Group brings the IKEA brand to millions of homes, representing about 90% of IKEA retail sales. This journey is supported by Ingka Centres and Ingka Investments securing long-term growth and resilience for generations to come.

Our work is always driven by our IKEA values. With humbleness we want to lead by example and contribute not only to a better tomorrow for our customers, but also for people and the planet we call home.

Our journey

Since Ingvar Kamprad founded the first IKEA company in 1943, our journey has been shaped by a spirit of curiosity and togetherness. Today IKEA is a franchise business, with many companies operating under one IKEA brand.

At Ingka Group, we’re proud of our Swedish roots in Småland, an area where life wasn’t always easy, and where people had to work together with their neighbour to make ends meet. This has always inspired us to keep things simple and work side by side to create a better everyday life for the many people.

Our story began with humble ambitions and we still believe in the power of community, responsibility and making good design accessible to all.

Our ownership structure

We are set up for generations, not quarters. Ingka Group is owned by a Dutch Stichting foundation which has no shareholders or beneficial owners.

Our ownership structure means that Ingka Group’s profits can only be used in two ways: to be reinvested back into our business or to support the charitable work of the IKEA Foundation. This gives us financial independence and a long-term view, ensuring our “why” can always be our vision: to create a better everyday life for the many people.
